Bosna i Hercegovina je posljednjih godina usljed turbulentnih dešavanja u međunarodnoj politici izgubila status koji je imala u ratnim devedesetim i poraću. Ipak, ta država se vraća na agendu u međunarodnim krugovima zbog geopolitičkog preslagivanja moći uzrokovanog agresijom Ruske Federacije na Ukrajinu.
Zemlje Zapadnog Balkana su detektovane kao novo potencijalno žarište[1], što je između ostalog rezultat višegodišnjeg zapostavljanja te regije od strane Zapada. Bosna i Hercegovina je zbog izuzetno decentralizovanog političkog sistema posebno ranjiva, a to dokazuje unilateralno djelovanje pojedinih političkih aktera u toj zemlji. Dok neki ukrajinsku krizu vide kao priliku za oživljavanje umrtvljenog euroatlantskog puta[2] Bosne i Hercegovine i zemalja regije, mnogi se sa pravom pitaju gdje je i šta radi bosanskohercegovačka diplomatija. Ovaj osvrt podsjeća na važne aspekte djelovanja bh. diplomatije i razloge njene neefikasnosti.
Ako se vratimo na pitanje gdje je i šta radi bh. diplomatija u trenutku kada zemlje regije koriste svaku priliku da se dokažu kao kredibilan partner Evropske unije i Zapadnih sila, dovoljno je ponovo pročitati predstavljene aspekte vođenja vanjske politike Bosne i Hercegovine. Bh. diplomatija je odraz ukupnih političkih dešavanja u toj zemlji, gdje se preveliki fokus na etničko pri imenovanju diplomata radi na uštrb sposobnosti i kvaliteta. Usvajanje Zakona o vanjskim poslovima Bosne i Hercegovine bio bi dobar temelj početku reforme ove oblasti sa ciljem stvaranja koherentnosti i sistemskog pristupa koji prvenstveno zastupa interese države Bosne i Hercegovine. Do tada će se stanovnici ove zemlje morati oslanjati na prijatelje u svijetu u nadi da će njihovo djelovanje približiti Bosnu i Hercegovinu euroatlantskom klubu kojem se načelno svi želimo približiti.
